Quickvisit to Perth

8 april 2015 - Perth, Australië

After Onslow I decided to stay in Perth for a little while. Recha was living there and I could stay with her for a few days to settle in. She was living together with a Dutch and a Canadian girl in a shared house. It was so good to see her and be surrounded by good people. Many girlnights with lots of wine and good conversations. The first few days we explored the city and walked around a lot. Perth is nice, it's a big city with a lot of suburbs, but the city centre was small and personal. A lot of interesting architecture, cute little houses with veranda's and decoration, next to futuristic skyscrapers. In the beginning it felt a little like a cultureshock, so many people everywhere, so much going on and soooooo much to do. Especially shopping, but there were foodfestivals, culture festival, museums and heaps of outdoor activities all over the city.

After a few days at Recha's house I moved to a hostel around the corner and Recha got me a job at the cafe/lunchroom where she was working, so that was perfect. I could work a few hours to pay for my hostel and food. Ohhh yeah the food!! It was soooo nice to have a kitchen again and cook my own food! Groceries are pretty expensive, but I didn't care, I made wraps and salad and sweet potatoes with corn and just the way I like it. After a few days I had to change hostels, cuz it was so dirty and shitty at the hostel I was staying. Unfortunately my other hostel wasn't as close to Recha's house, but it was a good hostel. I had awesome people in my dorm and we we're hanging out a lot. Work was just during the day, so I had free time at night to go out and chill with friends. After a week in Perth, I kinda decided that I didn't wanted to stay there much longer, Perth is nice for a few days but living here is wayyyy to normal for me haha it's just regular life, big city, taking the bus to work, going to the supermarket, cooking food and all of that.... So I applied for a few jobs in the outback again and they got me an awesome job as barista/bartender somewhere in the outback again. I stayed in Perth for the Easter weekend, ate a lot of chocolate and got way too drunk, but ah well we had a good time! I'm really happy I left Onslow and got myself a new adventure. I enjoyed being in Perth, getting to know Recha better and hang out with people awesome people, who I hopefully see again soon! But I'm really excited for this new job, this one is even more remote than Onslow. It's just a roadhouse/hotel/restaurant/service station next to the highway. I believe there is no town or city for two hours from the roadhouse, so this is gonna be "outback-middle-of-nowhere-challange-2.0" haha. Hopefully I got phone service and wifi, to stay connected to the outside world, but if you don't hear from me for he next 3 months, you'll know why!! It's a 7hour trainride, then a 2,5hour busride and then another 2h by car from Perth, so that's like a 12hour journey, that's starting right now!! Hopefully you're all well and you enjoyed your easterweekend?! Talk to you soon!

Nice to read about your 'way too drunk adventures' again.
Have lots of fun at your next middle of nowhere home.
