HolidaysSss in the outback

I knowww, I'm late but I still want to let you guys know what I did for christmas and new years. I arrived in Onslow a week before christmas and the pub/restaurant was closed for christmasday. I had a day of the day before christmas together with Pete and Sam. They planned a trip to Coral Bay and asked me if I wanted to join them. Clear blue oceans and white sandy beaches.... ? Uhhh Hell yeaah!! The rest of the crew had to work on the day before christmas, so we were pretty lucky we could do this trip. It's a 4 hours drive through the dessert, so it's not a trip that I'd take everyday, but that's about the closest place to Onslow. There is Karratha, that's 2,5 hours away and that's it. So distances are totally different around here, people do daytrips to these places, because it's normal for them. Haha it's so weird to think that you can drive through The Netherlands in 3 hours and for us, Groningen (north) is far away. But anyways, we drove there with Pete's car. On the way, we saw this cool cave and we decided to stop and climb in the cave. It was just a small one, but the view was incredible and it was nice to get out of the car after 2 hours of driving. Once we arrived we checked in af the hostel, got some sangas (aussie slang for sandwiches) got some snorkels and went to the beach. I've seen some pretty gorgeous beaches, but this was absolutely amazing. Soooo blue, really?! "Is this photoshopped in my head?" The coralreef in front of the beach was very nice and we just played around in the water. Pete knew some people who worked at the camping site at Coral Bay and we were invited to have christmas dinner and drinks with them. It was very relaxed and chilled, we had drinks and music and it was a really nice way to spend christmas eve. Later that night we went to our hostel, because there was a x-mas party. In the middle of the night I woke up to go to the toilet and I found Sam sitting/sleeping in front of the toilets with his drinks in one hand and a sigaret in the other. I laughed out loud and went to get my camera, cuz that's worth taking a picture of, but I was too late, some one already woke him up when I got back. Tooo bad, but it was still funny. The next day I woke up early, it was our last day in Coral Bay and I heard that there was a Black Tip Reef shark nursery somewhere around the bay. I woke up Sam and we went for a walk along the beach and it was soo nice. The view was amazinggg and after a 15 min walk, we arrived at a small bay and that was where the sharks have their babies. It was all natural, no human interferance, just nature and it was awesome. The sharks are so close in the shallow water. We could have gone in, but we didn't want to disurb them. Absolutely amaaaaazingg!!! We walked back and unfortunatly we had to drive back to Onslow, because we had to work the next day. During our drive back, we ended up in some sort of storm. First we saw all these little sandtornado's around us (which are pretty cool to see) and we saw a massive rainstorm coming our way. We drove through the storm and it was heavy. We couldn't see anything, luckiky, the roads here are deserted and there was no one there (don't worry oma, ik pas goed opmezelf) and a few minutes later the storm passed and we could continue our journey. Back at the hotel in Onslow,we joined the rest of the crew, who already started the party. We had some drinks, went to the beach and had some drinks there and it was a good night. Nice way to get the know every one and I was really happy to be there, in Onslow for christmas. Of course it was weird not to celebrate with my family, it didn't feel like a real christmas, but still it was good. 
A week later it was new years eve. The pub organized a big NYE party and together with Sam, Hanna and Allen we worked that night. It wasn't a big deal for me to work, I realized that christmas is an important time to spend with family, but I never really felt connected to the whole NYE party thing. I do think about the difference this NYE and the one I had last year, haha. It's crazy how my life has changed and what a year it has been. Ok, I'm not gonna get all sentimental on you guys, so let's move on ;)
We had a lot of fun that night, people were having a good time and partying. At 9pm we watched the fireworkshow in Sydney (3h timedifference with Sydney) and at 12 we had champange and it was good. I think we finished working around 2 am, so after cleaning we had drinks with the staff and it was hilarious. We stayed up untill 6am, just drinking, talking, having fun. I went to bed for a few hours and woke up at 10. I messaged my friend Tim and he came and picked me up from the hotel, to get rum and coconuts at his place. It was so much fun, but I had to work at 4 in the afternoon and I was so drunk. Hannah, Sam and I had to work again, but there was no one in the pub, I was still drunk, Hannah had a hangover and it was just baddddddd!! So Hannah and I worked for 2 hours and went straight to bed haha. It was the best New years!!! I had so much fun, it was crazy. The next day everything went back to normal again. I had a day of and chilled at the beach. I hope everyone had good holidays and I wish you all the best for 2015, may this year be even better than the last.
